How to Design a Kid’s Room
Designing your kid’s room is probably one of the most fun spaces to design in your home. Here are 5 design tips on how to design a kid’s room:
WALL COLOR
As kids grow, their interests will change. A neutral wall color is the perfect blank canvas. If you want to add wallpaper, keep it on one wall and change it up as you see fit.
LIGHTING
Incorporating a variety of light sources is important for a kids room – a ceiling light, a bedside table lamp, decorative lights, and a night light. Low lit lights, like a bedside table lamp and fairy lights, creates a warm and cozy ambience when relaxing before bedtime.
STORAGE
Get creative with storage furniture. Toy chests, storage beds, drawers, bookshelves, storage bench, etc. Storage helps the room stay and look clean and organized.
ART
Hanging up wall art is one of the most fun things to do when designing your kids room. If your child is old enough, let them help when choosing the theme. From wall stickers, to peel and stick wall murals, and framed art prints, there are endless possibilities.
AREA RUG & CURTAINS
Even if you have a carpeted bedroom, an area rug adds an extra layer of coziness and design. Curtains also create another layer of warmth and comfort. All depending on your child’s sleep preferences, they can be blackout curtains or sheer curtains. If you have blinds on your windows, adding curtains will enhance the look and feel in your kids room.
